Program notes: “Static Sky” is a very flowing and lyrical piece of music that is meant to capture
the beauty of the sky on a clear night in Minnesota, uninhibited by light pollution. The
breathtaking dreaminess of the stars visible from Minnesota is portrayed by the rich
harmonies and brief moments of seemingly stunned silence throughout the piece.
